The benefits of green tea

Green tea is often said to be good for health, but what exactly are the benefits of green tea, and why is it so good for us? It’s believed that it all comes down to epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG, which is a polyphenol that’s found in abundance in the tea. There’s 7380mg of EGCG in just 100g of green tea, which is much more than the amount found in black teas. Here are just some of the benefits of EGCG:

There may also be other ways that green tea can benefit us. Although caffeine generally gets a bad reputation, it does have its advantages. Caffeine in green tea can provide the body with energy, reduce tiredness, and speed up reactions, and it’s also great for stimulating the hair follicles, improving the texture of very fine hair and encouraging healthy growth. In small amounts, caffeine can be good for us.

Including Green Tea in the Diet

The most obvious way to include green tea in the diet is through boiling up some green tea from tea bags or making drinks with matcha powder. However, if you don’t like the taste of green tea, there are also green tea extract capsules that can be purchased from health food stores. Some people also like to apply green tea topically to the skin, and it can be found in some soaps, deodorants, and skin products.
