LUTEIN

Lutein and Zeaxanthin Lutein, derived from the Latin word Luteus meaning yellow, is a xanthophyll and is considered to be one of the 600 carotenoids. It is also one of the most significant constituents of food. Zeaxanthin is also one of the other naturally present carotenoids. The word is derived from the Latin term Zea Mays, that means common yellow maize corn. These two compounds together are collected at the retina of the human eyes to prevent the macular degeneration of the viewing apparatus. In collaboration with other antioxidants such as beta carotene, vitamin E and Vitamin C; these compounds are majorly responsible for preventing the impacts of free radicals. • Lutein helps to protect from atherosclerosis, the most common reason for heart attacks.
