SAFFRON



Saffron is a highly prized spice, made from crocuses. As well as being used for flavour, it is also used for medicinal purposes. Saffron contains safranol, a volatile oil which is known to have antioxidant and anticonvulsant properties. Saffron also contains crocin, a carotenoid with strong antioxidant and antidepressant qualities.
